Too Close With Tampa

Our victory over Tampa Bay was needed, though the feat of doing so remained completely unimpressive. You voted last week and overwhelmingly indicated that ownership is the issue. I took this information and ran with it to analyze. This deduction is mostly correct, but conclusively we can say that general managerialship by ownership is one of the worst decisions Snyder has ever made.

In a season where we needed offensive linemen, Snyder and Cerrato (our illustrious GMs) passed class A candidates up for 3 draft rounds in a row despite the fact we wheeled and dealed to get 10 draft picks for '09-'10. Further to this point, our self-admiring GMs overlooked any possible free agency candidates and instead opted for mediocre other players and paid Haynesworth, Portis and Hall way too much for what they could bring to the team.

We gave the ball over 4 times today, all of which were OL and QB related. While Tampa's Talib may be a good player, he was not so good as to be gifted 3 interceptions in one game. This is offensive weakness not great play defense. Snyder has to let go of the GM duties and replace Vinny Cerrato in that position. They are clearly ineffective and not adept to handling the tasks required with this vital front office responsibility.

We have the lowest T.O.P (time of possession) in the NFL, because we don't give any of our QB's enough time to move the ball effectively. Portis is steadily declining in his productivity year over year, but this too can be partly attributed to poor OL play, a consequence of mediocre General Manager decisions and underskilled players in these core positions.

Is Zorn ready to be a head coach? Who knows, we have no evidence one way or the other, but we can say without questions that he has no control over which players he coaches, this is squarely a decision made by Snyder and Cerrato. They need to let go! In order for us to get our team back, we need to speak up and make known our desire for Snyder and Cerrato to step up, admit they cannot handle the GM task and find someone who will or we the fans will find some way to change it (see links under related sites to the left). They've tried for 10 years with poor results, it's time to change.

  1. We can be heard. The power of the internet has done spectacular things. We can have our voices heard directly to the players, coaches and owners. With enough shared thoughts and comments we will let them know that we want our team back.

I'd still like to think that some of the players can see past their Monday paydays and try to get into the playoffs. But I suppose we will have to wait, watch, and judge. We now have our blog to express whatever we think about our team's progress. I will be posting new perspectives and thoughts at least once a week. Check back regularly for fresh perspectives and a sense of homogenity with Redskins fans across the country. Stay active, stay heard. Be silent and lose momentum.
