Was it just me or did our offensive line look more explosive Sunday against the Broncos (who are by the way ranked 3rd overall defense and 8th against the run)? It was the same offensive line, just different running backs. It looked to me like they were seeing the holes and blowing through them. When I compared Betts' plays to Portis plays, the plays didn't change, just that Betts and company did less meandering behind the lines and more hole hitting. I think the Portis era has begun to lose its luster. Further, it was incredibly noticeable that Campbell did get more time in the pocket as a result of a balanced running game. It is a pity however that Campbell's accuracy has not had a chance to improve over these past 9 weeks.
Did anyone else catch the statistic that the Redskins are the only team since 2001 to NOT DRAFT ANY offensive linemen? Only the most obtuse GMs and owners could miss such an important aspect of building a winning football team. Yes we put a "W" in the results column, but clearly we are still a struggling team today because of poor general managerialship and poor ownership oversight. I am very pleased that we saw a good many fans at the stadium, however, so long as we feed ownership dollars for a mediocre team, we will not reach the Superbowl anytime soon. Yes we won, but I am far from convinced that we are the team we need to be. I hope I'm wrong, but chances are we will end the season 8-8 if we're lucky.
