Victory For The Fans!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Redskins Fans!!! The much maligned V-Man has resigned! Is Allen the right choice? We cannot say that yet, as one can only speak from what we know.

We do know that Bruce Allen is the son of a great man and an icon in Redskins history and America's history. Cerrato was not. V-Man's only link to the proud heritage of the Redskins was being Snyder's buddy (though he has been referred to by many other names). Clearly, Vinny's lack of link to this team's culture produced catastrophic results. We will not face this problem with Bruce Allen.

In addition to being the son of a legendary Redskins coach, arguably a contender to Joe Gibbs iconic status, Bruce's brother served the people of Virginia nobly as Governor for 4 years and passed legislation that served its people well. We also know that Bruce Allen has led the Raiders to the Superbowl having built a noteworthy franchise during his time there and knows how to place key personnel in the right places.

I don't think a total shakeout of the coaches at this point is the intent, nor should it be. I believe Zorn may show great promise if he has the support of management and ownership. As far as play calling, perhaps Jim Zorn is not there yet in play calling, but the players respect him and the fans sympathize with him. Keeping him on for another season is the right move. As far as the players are concerned, they need a shakeout. This year we have witnessed overpaid crybabies get outperformed by young, hungry, and committed players who's salaries represent the spirit of the game and have hearts to match.

I do applaud Dan Snyder for listening to the voices of the millions of fans who have pleaded for a major change in management. The question remains however, can he keep his hands out of the management of the team and let Bruce manage, or will he spoil Bruce Allen and continue the dispiriting streak of the past ten years through perpetuity?
