This sums up the Redskins. Poor Brandon Banks, he's the best player on the team. I hope he stays around, but I'm sure a real team will want to snatch him up for next year.

Santana Moss would be a second string receiver on any other team, but unfortunately he is the best receiver the Redskins have.

Kyle Shanahan is probably one of the worst play callers and offensive coordinators I have ever seen in this league.

Jim Haslett does not know how to prepare for game day. 411 average yards allowed per game is stuff you see in highschool football games. Jim will probably be a superstar coaching highschool, but the NFL is way above his capabilities. He should take Kyle Shanahan with him to coach at a lower level, I'm sure he'd probably kick ass coaching pee-wee. Or maybe Kyle can go back to college and get a degree in a normal field, because I don't think this NFL thing is going to work out for him. He's still young enough to try something outside of football.

I hope Mike Shanahan can be objective when he evaluates Kyle's performance at year end, because at this point Shanahan Jr. has done nothing to earn him a spot as an NFL caliber coach.

Join our growing list of readers

Mid-Season Synopsis 2010 - 2011

So let's recap. Eagle's set the NFL RECORD tonight for most points scored in a first quarter by an away team, they have scored the most against the Redskins in RIVALRY HISTORY, Michael Vick is throwing an almost perfect game, even when his receiver is falling backwards into the pylon. I would attribute this domination less to the Eagle's skill, as brilliant as they looked tonight, and more to the PATHETIC-NESS of the Washington Redskins. Our coaches have proven winning records, save Kyle Shanahan who's judgement this year has been iffy all season. Jim Haslett has done well in the past, but this year his mark really isn't evident. We can attribute the PATHETIC NATURE of this team to A PATHETIC OWNER and poor player selection. At the end of the day the team takes on the nature of its owner, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. We have A SHITTY OWNER AND MEDIOCRE PLAYERS on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Additionally it seems that we have the most football mentally challenged crew in the league and in the history of the NFL. What's worse is that they seem to enjoy a screwed up and backwards incentive system implemented by Snyder garnering all the wrong results, BUT STILL HE DOES NOT CHANGE IT. As such we encourage the play of losers and not of champions. FANS, just stop going to the games. It's not about giving the team money any more, it is about what we can and cannot tolerate as fans. We DON'T WANT TO WATCH A SHITTY TEAM play. The 2010 - 2011 Redskins do not deserve to our support, they have had it in an unlimited capacity over the past 12 years. It's over, TIME IS UP!

Nothing more needs to be said, the Washington Redskins have not arrived yet. They suck! We have to dismantle every position on our team and jettison all current players except Chris Cooley, DeAngelo Hall, Laron Landry, Ryan Torrain, Trent Williams and Donovan McNabb, but keep the coaches and start with a complete blank slate. Oh hey, here's a thought, SNYDER get the hell away from our team and go back to MARKETING, that's all you know how to do. Football is NOT something you excel at clearly. Give the fans a break and give up the team to an owner who knows what the hell he is doing.

Join our growing list of readers

Another lackluster performance against the Colts - How will we do against the Bears?

Remember this from last year?

Two words come to mind as being the determining factor of our loss to Indianapolis last Sunday on national television, Kareem Moore. You know I've mentioned this guy twice now since he made his appearance in a Washington uniform and both times have been really bad. Both times I mentioned him he was the reason we lost the game. The last time I talked about Mr. #41 Kareem Moore was in our heart breaking loss against the Saints last year when he picked off Brees in our territory and tried to run it back all fancy like then fumbling the ball back to the Saints leading them to go in for their go ahead score. This time I believe much of the responsibility of last weeks loss fell again on his shoulders. With a team like the Redskins, who I can say are solidly an average team ranked overall 16th in the league, we cannot blow opportunities for big plays. Kareem Moore was guilty of 3 major game changing play blunders. And again they came in the form of botched interception opportunities and poor mental fortitude.

The culprit

Let's rewind to the first quarter, we had just scored and the Colts have the ball inside their own territory after our kickoff. Manning throws a ball over his receiver (Manning rarely does that anywhere, much less against the Redskins) and into Kareem Moore's gut. Kareem Moore dropped the "gimme interception." Big mistake, big game changer, recall that after that play the Colts went ahead and scored on that drive. Early in the 2nd quarter, Kareem Moore blew a coverage in the endzone for another Colt's TD, mental breakdown. And then in the middle of the 4th quarter when we were storming back onto the score board, Kareem Moore's swiveling butter hips went in the wrong direction denying him yet another rare interception opportunity against a superstar Manning. I'll tell you what guys, playmakers and key players do not miss opportunities to pick their teams up by the bootstraps and drive them on to victory. Kareem Moore has committed 4 grave mental errors since we've known him as a Redskin and these errors have cost us two games against two strong opponents. These little things tear a team apart and demoralize them throughout the game, especially effecting players on an average team like the Redskins. Wins by average teams over superior teams boost morale and encourage them to play better in future games, heartbreaking losses have the opposite effect and ruin a team's season. Kareem, you are not a playmaker, super star or even starter material by a long shot. Pack it in and go home buddy, give someone else with better playmaking skills the chance to carry their team. If Jim Haslett doesn't see what I see then he is just as guilty of screwing his team over as Kareem Moore is and should take my same advice, go home, let someone who knows take charge.

Now against the Bears, it's almost like looking into the mirror at another average team very similiar to the Redskins. Our overall matchups are pretty even but with grave disparities on individual characteristics. However as with any average team, "being even" is not a good thing because one big play will make all the difference on the outcome of a game. Our offense is ranked 20th in points scored, the Bears defense is ranked 3rd in points allowed. We are 15th in yards gained, the Bears D is 8th in yards allowed, 9th in passing against their 18th in pass coverage. Say no way to a running advantage as we are ranked 25th on the rush while the Bears are ranked 3rd against the rush. It looks like our offensive strategy will once again fall on the shoulders of a yet inconsistent Donovan McNabb. I like Donovan, I think he'll be great closer to the end of the season and all next season, but this year he just hasn't gotten it all together yet. Blame that on Kyle's trying to reprogam him on his technique after 11 years of habit. I still don't know why you have to do that to the guy, he's clearly proven himself as a top QB in the league. It's like someone reprogramming Favre now after nearly 20 years, it's just not going to happen like you want it to.

Enough said.

The plus in our favor here slightly is that the Bear's offense is still trying to figure out who they are. Bears are 22nd in points scored against our 14th in points allowed, 29th in yards gained while we are dead last, 22nd in pass while we are next to dead last, 26th on the rush while we are 24th ranked. I would look for Cutler to open it up early and then pound us with the rush. He's not as gifted a coverage reader as Manning is, but given enough time Cutler can do some damage. We also have DeAngelo Hall and Carlos Roger's questionable for this week's game which makes upfront pressure from our defense tantamount. Victory will be found or squandered by our defensive line for this matchup. Unless we get pressure early and often, and control their rushing attack on the line, the advantage will definitely go to the Bears. Their defense can control our offense if we do not exploit our chances for big plays. Given last week's performance, I would expect the Bear's to pick on Kareem Moore's side of the field and if they do I hope we pull Moore early and put someone in more worthy and capable of playing next to Laron Landry.

Join our growing list of readers

Not Looking Good for the Skins on Sunday

With injuries to Trent Williams, Laron Landry, Kareem Moore and Clinton Portis, our Redskins struggling air defense and offense will most likely be all the more anemic come Sunday against the Colts. Although it is not certain that Trent Williams, Laron Landry and Kareem Moore will not play on Sunday, they would not be at 100% while playing either. The Colts defense is ranked 29th against the run, but our offense is ranked 25th running so we will not likely exploit this weakness without Trent Williams and Clinton Portis. While the Colts passing defense is ranked 13th, our passing offense is ranked 7th, but without the threat of the run a strong passing attack is unlikely to develop. The biggest scary statistic I came across in preparing for this entry is the ranking of the Colts passing attack compared to the ranking of the Redskins' pass defense. The Colts passing offense is ranked 4th in the NFL, our defense is ranked 30th and that was with Laron Landry and Kareem Moore providing our corner's with air support. I shudder at the thought of the gashes we can expect through the air with a Peyton Manning passing attack. Though the one silver line here is that they will not be at 100% running effectiveness without their first and second string backs so I hope Jim Haslett can find the balance of committing to the air and not to the run without letting the run get away from us.

Additionally, I am a fan of Donovan McNabb I think his heart and commitment are with the Redskins now, but he was off last Sunday in our win over the Packers. He missed some key passes to Anthony Armstrong, Chris Cooley, Joey Galloway and even Mike Sellers at times throwing the ball into the ground or overthrowing our guys when they were wide open. I have faith he will pull it all together during the second half of the season, but that won't help us against the stampeding Colts on Sunday night. Furthermore the Colts still have many of their playmakers on Defense and I have learned watching the Dan Snyder version of the Redskins that we never really seem to have answers for other team's playmakers. For instance I am almost convinced that if Clay Matthews had not gotten hurt in the second half, he would have continued to reak havoc on our already struglling offensive line and an inconsistent Donovan McNabb. He will be okay but I am glad he was not a factor in the second half because truthfully I don't think we could have pulled off the win had he not been removed from the game.

I would love to say we have a good chance of winning on Sunday night, but I really just don't believe that right now with the matchup being as it is. I hope I'm wrong and Jim Haslett and Kyle Shanahan have answers for the disparities on offense and defense.

Join our growing list of readers

Eek Gad - Another Unnecessary Nail-Biter

Six words will sum up the challenges we had this week in putting the Eagles away, short game, short game, short game. Indeed our poor defense of the Eagle's short game kept their hopes alive up until the last play of the game. Our lack of ability to adjust to a constant barrage of Eagle blitzes by making adjustments to our short game kept a target on the Redskins back up until the last play of the game. On the bright side, it looks like Kyle Shanahan took my suggestion from last week and read "offense for dummies," and worked the ground game. Did we shake the earth with our thunder and lightning running game, no, but we sure kept the Eagles off balance during play action.

You know which one play actually stands out to me in Sunday's game besides Michael Vick going down (left)? The clumsy catch, stumble and fall by Anthony Armstrong (#13, right) after he caught McNabb's 56 yard beauty in the second quarter. Had he kept his balance and scored a TD there would have been very little cause for concern coming into the final 3 minutes of the game. Many people overlook this and say, "wow that was a great catch," but with the Redskins, every little inch of progress is necessary to win each game and ultimately having a shot at the playoffs. While others were thinking "wow what a catch," I was thinking, "Sh**, what a dumbass, that's going to come back to bite us later," and it sure as hell did. The other play that may have clenched victory with little cause for stress at the end, was Carlos Rogers' (#22, above right) interception drop. The ball hit him right in the hands, he dropped it. A similar thought cloud manifested itself over my head after this play as did when Armstrong stumbled, bumbled and fell out of bounds instead of walking into the endzone for the go ahead score. And it almost sure as hell did.

Let's face it, the Redskins, while they seem to have improved over last season, are not a strong enough team to win without mistakes by the other team if they miss scoring on a go ahead wide open TD pass and dropping a "give me" interception to clench the game. The Washington Redskins need all the help they can get. Let's not forget the boneheaded penalties committed by the Eagles when they had big plays nullifying a few key first downs and a near touchdown. I'll admit, it is great to see these mental errors committed by other teams and not by the Redskins for a change. But without them, chances are we would have racked up another L for 3 in a row and McNabb's bittersweet homecoming would probably have haunted him for the rest of his NFL career. I'm happy we won, but we need to stop relying on other team's mistakes to win, as we did with the Cowboys in week one, and win by our own mistake free, solid play merit. Recall we were one catch away from losing this game on Kolb's final toss (above right), I really don't want to see us in that position again this season. Though without making fixes to our short game on both offense and defense the chances of many more victories to come are slim to none.

Join our growing list of readers

Sad Day in St. Louis

Today the Redskins were laid over on their stomach and spanked like a little bitch by a rookie QB and a second-string RB from a team that has only won 1 game out of their last 28, now 2 out of their last 29. Chances are the St. Louis Rams will go 1-15 on the season. Jim Haslett and his defense weren't the only part of the Redskins that were embarrased, Kyle Shanahan's offense was impotent and shameful, especially inside the Red Zone.

Poor McNabb

It almost seems like we have no plays drawn up for inside the 20 yard line, and Jim Haslett really has no clue how to defend against the pass. We have the Eagle's next week against a super hot Michael Vick then we go up against the Packers the week after. I don't know about you but I've already marked my team schedule with L's all the way through week 8. The W against the Cowboys we got in week 1 was not a result of a heroic performance by the Redskins, it was the outcome of a downright dispicable performance by the Cowboys. The Redskins are not ready to play in the NFL, even under a super star coach like Mike Shanahan and a winning QB like Donovan McNabb. Love him or hate him, McNabb's resume is a strong and accomplished one. I bet he's kicking himself right about now for joining the Redskins and putting all his career stats and achievements at risk. Additionally, there were periods during this game that I really felt the entire Redskin squad had given up figuring out their fight on their own and left the entire responsibility of winning on the shoulders of McNabb. This is not a healthy mix of morale guys and historically speaking, the negative morale always sucks the life out of the positive. I've already burned my Redskins jersey this year. It's a pity because it fit really nicely.

The rookie

Here are some questions that stand out to me throughout the game. Why didn't our "seasoned," and "professional NFL caliber," defensive coordinator pressure a rookie NFL QB on his 3rd start? That's like rule number one in football for dummies, "rookie QB's are susceptible to heavy defensive pressure." Our pass defense is something really disgraceful. It's almost like our secondary is only trained to react to one scenario at a time and have no wherewithal or mental capacity to adjust to the game in play and improvise to a flow in the game. Jim, read chapter 2 in football for dummies, it says something about having to train your players mentally as well as physically and since players are a reflection of their coaches I can only wonder what you scored on your SATs? I suggest Jim Haslett go to a couple of Steeler defensive practices and take some serious notes because he is not ready to coach in the NFL.

My second question is to Kyle Shanahan, why have you not developed a running game? In football for dummies under the offensive coordinator section, "establish the running game," is rule number one. Kyle, do all the Redskin fans a favor and read football for dummies after Jim Haslett is finished with it.

The little fairy

I will close with my third question to Clinton Portis and a fourth question to Rocky McIntosh. First, Clinton, why have you made it a habit these last 3 seasons to fall down to the ground like a sissy when you have a chance to break through a defensive back and possibly score your team and it's fans a TD? Rocky, dude why do you suck so bad? Rocky McIntosh gave up on chasing a rookie QB after his initial attempt at a sack failed in the 2nd quarter and he really screwed up some coverages on key plays.

Join our growing list of readers

The Redskins Just Haven't Arrived Yet

Graham Gano's face says it all, frustrating as hell

Another week, another nail biting game that didn't have to be so nerve racking. We could have handedly won this game if not for bonehead play calls and easy demoralization. To add insult to injury, this Texan win in overtime was the first one ever in franchise history and the first one ever against the Redskins.

The talking heads will say that the blocked field goal by Bernard Pollard in the 4th quarter was the key play of the game. I completely disagree. There were several key plays of the game that resulted from several bonehead defensive calls that facilitated one of the greatest comebacks in Texan history. These blundered calls were the reason we were enduring the field goal dilemma in the first place. Not to mention the fact that we could only muster 33 yards on the ground. I don't know of any team in the history of the NFL that can win games with 33 yeards rushing.

Biggest bonehead defensive call

Here are the facts. We realized we could stop Arian Foster early in the game and didn't need to devote so much energy in keying on him. We know that Matt Schaub loves to go to Andre Johnson. The one play that stands out is the 4th and 10 TD with 2 minutes to go in the game and 2 minutes until a second Redskin win. A level-headed defensive coordinator would choose TO DOUBLE COVER the Texan's star player, but ours chose not to. Why on earth would a professional defensive coordinator in the NFL decide NOT to double cover the other team's star player when the game hangs in the balance? That totally blows my mind.

Schaub destroys Redskins' D with 2 players

Let's probe further into our pass defense. What sane-minded defensive coordinator allows one team to complete 23 balls between two players for 302 yards? Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter destroyed the Redskin's pass defense and made Jim Haslett look like an amateur. This combination of receivers contributed to more than 60% of the total yardage allowed in the air...2 PEOPLE!!! That is most team's entire game yardage between 8 different people, NOT TWO!!! Our defensive coordinator let 2 PEOPLE annhialate our defense and lead the Texan's to the first ever victory in overtime and their first ever victory against the Redskins.

McNabb looked amazing

I don't want to be all gloom and despair because I honestly think the Redskins have a good shot at the playoffs this year. The Cowboys and Giants look anemic and the Eagles will probably pull Vick from the starting line up. Donovan McNabb looked amazing and our receiving core has played better than I remember over these past years. St. Louis is having trouble moving the ball and stopping opposing team's pass attacks. If we can keep the momentum going in our passing game and our run defense, seal up our holes in pass defense and run the ball effectively moving forward we may start to see glimmers of the ghosts of Redskins past under Gibbs and their glory days. If not, I'm afraid we're in for another long, dissapointing, heart-breaking season.

JOIN OUR GROWING LIST OF READERS

With the Storm Clouds Passed - Is There a Silver Lining Ahead?

Welcome back Redskins Fans!! A dismal 2009 season has closed putting an end to another looming dark cloud hovering above us for yet one more year. Another season begins, but will these clouds bring with them the sliver lining we so desperately need? From the looks of the moves we've made since the 2010 season opened, we risk blundering about along another uneventful and heartbreaking season. Let's evaluate what we've done so far.

Early January we signed Coach Mike Shanahan to a five year contract with dual responsibilities as Head Coach and VP of Football Operations. I don't know where the logic lies in assigning dual responsibilities without any real way of enforcing his hypothetical powers. Both Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan are rumored to have massive decision making authority, this is concerning because if there are too many chefs in the kitchen nothing gets done. We saw this happen all too often over the past 13 years.

We have heralded Mike Shanahan's record of 16 seasons, a 61.5% W-L rate and 2 championships. How does this match up with some of the greatest names in football coaching history:

     Bill Walsh - 10 seasons, 71.4% W-L rate and 3 championships

     Don Shula - 33 seasons, 52.8% W-L and 6 championsihps

     Joe Gibbs - 16 seasons, 70.8% W-L and 4 championships

Shanahan may be a good enough coach, but we need a rockstar. Comparatively speaking his record is not nearly as impressive as the game changers above. I hope he rises to the occasion and is allowed to coach without being vetoed by his partners upstairs.

Kyle Shanahan is an interesting choice, and honestly I feel his role as Offensive Coordinator, suboordinate to his father's direction may actually streamline communication on offense and better get that squad on the same page. Recall, our defense performed respectably last year, it was primarily our offense that stunk up the stadiums. What's more, he did some good things with the Texans and the Buccaneers. I'll look for a good showing from him this year, especially in clutch games.

Why McNabb and Larry Johnson? First let me address the bonehead decision to bring on Larry Johnson. In his entire career, Johnson only had two 1000 plus yard rushing seasons in 2005 and 2006. Otherwise his yards hover around 600 per season. He has scored 55 rushing TDs over his 6 year career and has never really been an impact player. Now follow this logic, if we agree that Clinton Portis has to be replaced with his statistics at six 1000 plus yard rushing seasons and 73 TDs in 6 out of 9 seasons wouldn't it follow that we would not spend franchise money on someone like Larry Johnson who's preformances pale in comparison to a guy we are looking to replace? Johnson is a bad decision and continues on in the spirit of dumb decisions by our upper management.

Let's take a look at Donovan McNabb. You know what, McNabb has demonstrated tremendous winning capability taking home 92 Ws and only 49 Ls. That's a W almost 65% of the time or 10.4 games per season. His completion percentage is around 59%, but his ATT/INT ratio is also respectable. Statistically his numbers are an INT on 2.1% of his attempts but when compared to the likes of Joe Montana with a win percentage of 71% or 11.4 games per season, a 2.5% ATT/INT ratio as well as a completion percentage of 63.2% and Joe Theismann who's Ws total percentage is 62% or 10 games per season a 3.8% ATT/INT comparison with a completion percentage of 56.7%, McNabb's numbers are up there with the best of them. He has another 3 good years left I believe, though his first year will be one of learning an entirely new system and may pose challenges in producing as many wins as he has done in the past. Now is a good time to recruit the next young franchise QB and have him mentored by one of the best in the game.

We drafted Trent Williams in the first round to beef up our OL, but he was the wrong decision when we weigh what he brings to the team compared to what Russel Okung could have brought. Okung is a solid player with an even temperament. He has well balanced skills and a good sized stature. Williams on the otherhand exhibits clear weaknesses in his pass blocking play and has a lack of respect toward authority and poor work ethic. It seems that someone up the food chain in Redskins management likes to bring on and reward pre-madonna's, pay them a ton of money and screw the team for one more year. I would take discipline, solid play and work ethic over entitlement, lack of respect and inconsistent play any day.

Please email me with your comments or speak freely right here on your home base for raw and uncut Redskin updates all year round.

EMAIL ME

JOIN OUR GROWING LIST OF READERS

Victory For The Fans!

KEEP UP WITH US

EMAIL ME

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Redskins Fans!!! The much maligned V-Man has resigned! Is Allen the right choice? We cannot say that yet, as one can only speak from what we know.

We do know that Bruce Allen is the son of a great man and an icon in Redskins history and America's history. Cerrato was not. V-Man's only link to the proud heritage of the Redskins was being Snyder's buddy (though he has been referred to by many other names). Clearly, Vinny's lack of link to this team's culture produced catastrophic results. We will not face this problem with Bruce Allen.

In addition to being the son of a legendary Redskins coach, arguably a contender to Joe Gibbs iconic status, Bruce's brother served the people of Virginia nobly as Governor for 4 years and passed legislation that served its people well. We also know that Bruce Allen has led the Raiders to the Superbowl having built a noteworthy franchise during his time there and knows how to place key personnel in the right places.

I don't think a total shakeout of the coaches at this point is the intent, nor should it be. I believe Zorn may show great promise if he has the support of management and ownership. As far as play calling, perhaps Jim Zorn is not there yet in play calling, but the players respect him and the fans sympathize with him. Keeping him on for another season is the right move. As far as the players are concerned, they need a shakeout. This year we have witnessed overpaid crybabies get outperformed by young, hungry, and committed players who's salaries represent the spirit of the game and have hearts to match.

I do applaud Dan Snyder for listening to the voices of the millions of fans who have pleaded for a major change in management. The question remains however, can he keep his hands out of the management of the team and let Bruce manage, or will he spoil Bruce Allen and continue the dispiriting streak of the past ten years through perpetuity?

EMAIL ME

Divine Intervention? I think not

KEEP UP WITH US

EMAIL ME

Winners know how to win plain and simple. They know how win when the terrain is perfect and they know how to win when they are challenged. The Redskins are far from being a winning team comprised of winners. They are a medicore team comprised of overpaid losers who crack under pressure. Some say the stars aligned and the fates intervened to miraculously propel the undefeated Saints to yet another win. I have a different outlook. I don't think Providence, the fates, angels or anything divine cares very much about football. Rather I would like to think that these celestial divine beings are focusing their energies on the more pressing problems wrong with the world today like hunger, famine, war, poverty, etc. To think that they really care enough about intervening in a football game to propel any team to victory is a little silly. It wasn't divine intervention that carried the day for the Saints, it was the culmination of a bunch of overpaid losers on the Redskins not knowing how to win when their numbers were dialed up.

There are 7 factors that contributed to our loss, in order of ratio of contribution they are number 6, number 30, number 41, number 17, number 92 not living up to his pay grade and Danny and Vinny. That's it. Not fate, not Thor, not Oden, not Zeus, not angels in the field, not divine Providence descending from heaven so the Saints can win against a lowly, mediocre team. Karma, maybe, Snyder has a lot of making up to do that's for sure. Perhaps if he walked away from the team, Karma would then intercede in the fan's favor.

As one of my favorite players Reed Doughty said in Thomas Boswell's article, "Close" is for losers, "Really good teams find a way to win games. And we're not that right now."

Campbell played the best game of his career without a doubt, but in the end, when your best is not good enough, you can't be the best. One of my favorite hip hop artists, Nelly, puts it best, "2 is not a winner and 3 nobody remembers." It doesn't matter if you played the best game of your life, if you throw a costly interception in overtime when you are on the verge of a massive upset over arguably one of the best teams in the league...you are not a winner. You are a fine player who cracks under pressure and costs his team and the fans a memorable victory. This is not good enough to be a top QB in the NFL or to be top in any walk of life for that matter. Winners know how to win on smooth waters or under turbulent conditions. They may not win all the time, but they certainly win more times than they lose.

Good coaches also know how to coach players to hold on to the ball. Don't be flashy, and don't be the hero when you've already made a huge interception at the end of the half. We don't have good coaches. Kareem Moore was part of the problem, making a nice play loses it's flavor when you fumble to the other team for a touchdown. You are then no longer a hero, you are a culprit who contributed to the loss. Jason Reid makes note about Kareem's (number 41) reply to this blunder, "All I was thinking about was trying to get nice field position for us and maybe even score," Moore said. "I tried to spin out of [Meachem's grasp], he used my momentum against me and he just took it from me." WHAT'S THIS? THE HERO MAKES A STUPID EXCUSE AND BLAMES THE OTHER GUY FOR HIM MAKING A MISTAKE. Newsflash, the other team doesn't want you to win, this is why you need to protect your momentum and not allow it to be used against you. Winners don't make excuses, they simply deliver results. Whoop, guess Kareem Moore doesn't fit that winner description.

I think I have made a successful argument to the point that divine Providence, the fates, angels in the field, and celestial interventions have nothing to do with winning or losing a football game. It's the owners, players and coaches, plain and simple. Let's not hide in denial that our beloved team sucks and is made up of losers who don't know how persevere through adversity when the time calls for it. The Redskins need a makeover from top to bottom. That is the only way to explain a consistently losing team, any losing team, bizarre conditions or not. Thus the ailing Redskins are left to wander off the field in yet another explicable dissapointment searching for an excuse other than themselves.

KEEP UP WITH US

EMAIL ME

Campbell Chronicles

Honestly I feel bad for the kid, I really do, but he can't stay in Washington. Perhaps had he been initiated into the league under a better team with a better line he would have flourished, but now Campbell is broken and confused. He doesn't read defenses well, he doesn't find the open receivers and he fails to capitalize off of key opportunities. He throws very well, sometimes, but this won't cut it if we want to make our team better.

We have played much better since the starters sat out. If the Redskins were a country I would recommend nuking them and starting completely from scratch. Find and sign players who want to play the game not chase fame and prize. Pay them average wages and turn them loose. The Patriots did it, the Saints did it and the Colts did it. The star players, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees were not signed with $100 Million contracts and weren't guaranteed more than an average amount. They came, they gelled with their teams and well you know what happened next. Teams that rely on superstars don't work. The pay disparity alone demotivates their teammates to play alongside them, not to mention, no matter how much overpaid players used to love the game, once they are guaranteed $40 plus million dollars, the fire and spark to play as a unit is lost as psyche shifts to individual superiority. Our team sucks, our ownership sucks, and our next 3 years are gonna suck too. We will suck 3 years hence because we have to rebuild from scratch anyway, whether or not we keep the star, useless players.

Our place for the rest of the season is to be the happy spark for opposing team fans that look forward to their team going head to head against the Redskins on gameday. The Redskins better get used to being disrespected and earning the title of wealthiest, useless athletes in sports. Their only solace will come from opposing team victors who are subtly gloating about their triumph but passing a flippant word or two in sportsmanship as McNabb said to Campbell after yesterday's game, "Don't quit the fight." Best of luck Campbell, gotta love your heart, but I'm afraid you have a lot of work to do before you can be mentioned in the same group as Brady, Manning and Brees.

EMAIL ME

Best of luck Jason, thank you for trying, wishing you much success on your next team.

And The Band Played On

Everything that can be said has already been said. Our offense is useless and ineffective, our defense is tired, and all our overpaid and underworked "superstars" will collect another multimillion dollar paycheck tomorrow. Nice job Snyder, way to show us your team spirit. Sell this blasted team to somebody who cares and will make a difference to the fans not to his own pocketbook.

Everyone else can celebrate while the Redskins again crash and burn to the sound of heartbreak of hundreds of thousands of fans. Play on drummer boy, play on band, for you are the only remaining light of this once proud team and you show up every week for the love of the game and you consistently perform well and the fans adore you. Hail to the Redskins band. I wonder how much of the band's success can be attributed to Snyder keeping his grimy paws off of it?

EMAIL ME

Yep that just about sums it up for the Redsksins non-band, they weep and look on in astonishment while everyone else celebrates the rise of their teams, not the painful plummet into the annals of NFL history as one of the worst teams ever to take a professional sports field.

What Becomes of Portis?

Was it just me or did our offensive line look more explosive Sunday against the Broncos (who are by the way ranked 3rd overall defense and 8th against the run)? It was the same offensive line, just different running backs. It looked to me like they were seeing the holes and blowing through them. When I compared Betts' plays to Portis plays, the plays didn't change, just that Betts and company did less meandering behind the lines and more hole hitting. I think the Portis era has begun to lose its luster. Further, it was incredibly noticeable that Campbell did get more time in the pocket as a result of a balanced running game. It is a pity however that Campbell's accuracy has not had a chance to improve over these past 9 weeks.

Did anyone else catch the statistic that the Redskins are the only team since 2001 to NOT DRAFT ANY offensive linemen? Only the most obtuse GMs and owners could miss such an important aspect of building a winning football team. Yes we put a "W" in the results column, but clearly we are still a struggling team today because of poor general managerialship and poor ownership oversight. I am very pleased that we saw a good many fans at the stadium, however, so long as we feed ownership dollars for a mediocre team, we will not reach the Superbowl anytime soon. Yes we won, but I am far from convinced that we are the team we need to be. I hope I'm wrong, but chances are we will end the season 8-8 if we're lucky.

EMAIL ME

What Is Left To Say??

Should I really waste my breath addressing how poorly the Redskins played against Atlanta? Aside from the fact that their performance last Sunday is fodder for the world's columnists, scoffers and ridiculers, anything I say to this point will be the same old tune we've heard for the past 10 years. So no, I won't waste your time and valuable cyber-space on the matter of how they suck. Rather I would like to point out how Sunday's performance is another clear indication of how ownership has destroyed the coaches, players and fans more severely than we had previously thought in these past 10 dark years for the Redskins.

As bad as the playing and execution of plays was, it wasn't the worst part of the Redskins performance this last Sunday. It was really the demoralized, defeated and whimpering attitude that has grown apparent in the visage of the league's most expensive players and coaches. It is really pathetic. When players resort to aggressive behavior on the sideline of the opposing team, this is normally an indication of whining and frustration among the aggressors. In this case, it was the Redskins defense. The offense had its moments, but when an obstacle emerged, rather than claw back to fight out of the hole, they just gave up. When players get hurt more often over the course of a game, this too is an indication of whimpering and whining. They are so ashamed to be on the field that they would rather get hurt or pretend to get hurt rather than face the fans as a loser. If they are hurt they can say, "I had nothing to do with that loss."

We can't let the players, coaches and ownership off that easily. Stop asking for autographs, stop buying jerseys, stop giving ownerhip money to give to these players who have clearly given up the fight. They are no longer giving the fans anything why should we give anything back? We shouldn't. So stop it. If you are a real and loyal Redskins fan you will follow this remedy to the letter. Nothing else will enable us to get our team back.

EMAIL ME

Snyder Speaks

"I feel bad for the fans," Snyder said in a rare interview appearance with Barry Svrluga. He later goes on to say how much the losses hurt and actually has the audacity to claim that he is doing everything in his power to make this better.

Aside from what appear to be highly fractured and separately segmented statements that are incoherent when put together in a sentence, there is a problem with Snyder's whole monologue in Svrluga's article, he never acknowledges that he is the major contributor to this problem, if not the only real contributor to it. He points the finger at the players, the coaches, the fans, even feigns a gesture in Vinny's direction, but he never once steps up and says, "hey I need to let go of running this team because I have no clue what the hell I'm doing."

Fact is, Dan has done nothing short of destroy this team and the football experience for all Resdkins loyalists around the world! He needs to step up and say that before anyone of us can take any "apology" from him seriously. Even if he really apologizes and is truly sincere, he still should not be running this team or owning it for that matter.

Fans, our voices are being heard loud and clear. So much so that the once invisible and invincible Snyder steps out of the shadows to speak. He didn't make much sense, and communicated very little sincerity in his fragmented comments, but one thing is for certain, we have to keep up the momentum we have built over the past 2 months. Once Dan starts seeing how quickly we can depreciate his investment, and realizes that the fans will not give him another penny until he ejects himself from the team, he will move on to something else and we will get our team back! Hail to the real Redskins and their loyal fans!

EMAIL ME

See complete Svrluga article here

Redskins Late Night - tapes at Gordon Biersch in Tysons Corner in front of a live audience
6-8 PM on Tuesdays - and tee shirts are allowed

Snyder's Fiefdom

This team's ownership is like an intestinal parasite...if we keep feeding it money it will stay in the host as a parasite sucking the life and money out of the team. If we starve the parasite by not feeding it anymore the parasite will be forced to detach from the host, get naturally excreted and move elsewhere, malnourished and hungry. I don't really care where it goes, but this site speaks for all of the fans when it says that this parasite is not welcome in Washington DC any longer!!! DC has enough parasites as it is.

The fans have two choices, not give ownership another penny and force him to sell, or if we have season tickets and have to show up, then show up to all the home games, pack the stadium, don't buy concessions, don't buy jerseys or trinkets, <strike>display very bright and noticeable signs that express our dismay</strike> (OOPS YOU CAN'T DO SIGNS ANYMORE), but you CAN boo like hell when players do bonehead plays and call out in unison, "SELL - THE - TEAM, SELL - THE TEAM," or "SNYDER - GO - HOME, SYDER - GO - HOME." Security can't kick thousands of fans out for voicing their dismay. Regardless of what Snyder may think in his little fiefdom of FedEx Field, THIS IS STILL AMERICA and we are free to voice our displeasure over damaged merchandise. Until we do one of these things, nothing will change and we will increduously continue to piss away hard earned dollars week after week. THAT'S NOT THE FUTURE I WANT TO GIVE MY TEAM..DO YOU?

EMAIL ME

The Snyder Chronicles Part I

"In two wide-ranging conversations at his Virginia estate, Cooke [Jr.] spoke at length about the auction in which he and Snyder became rivals for control of the Redskins. He revealed that he had held a clandestine meeting with Snyder, in which Cooke believed he would be courting a minority partner and was stunned when Snyder told him that he intended to buy the team himself. The meeting went badly, Cooke said, and ended with Cooke telling an associate that he no longer wanted anything to do with Snyder. The odds of this happening are 1 in 32,768, according to one source. The Redskins should be 5-0, 4-1 at worst, but the team can't even pull its weight with the dregs of the NFL. Billions of dollars have been flushed down the toilet on this team (FAN MONEY MOSTLY) year over year with nothing to show for it! This is absolutely shameful. In fact, if we are technically speaking, DAN SNYDER IS STEALING FROM HIS CUSTOMERS BY TAKING THEIR MONEY AND NOT DELIVERING THE GOODS THEY PURCHASED. Our advice is that he take business lessons from Jerry Jones.

Dan, do the millions of Redskins fans in this country and around the world a favor, give up control of the team and put it up for sale. Clearly, you do not have what it takes to be a competitor in this league. Very few people outside of DC respect you or your organization enough to even air its games at a public bar. If you do not acquiesce to this request made by WE THE FANS, we will collectively leave you NO CHOICE BUT TO CONCEDE. You will learn this lesson when the millions of fans who have padded your pockets these last 10 years stop and seek retribution for what you have done to their beloved team.

Redskins fans, we are coming together and making a real difference! Yet they held Portis in check on 19 attempts for only 57 yards. The Panthers are one of the worst running teams in the league, yet they out-paced us in rushing yards gaining 74. Our biggest run stops came when Carolina lined up in their wildcat formation, only when we knew the snap would go directly to the running back were we showing any kind of play awareness. Now we drop our second game to a winless team. Our team has sunk beyond "suck," they have entered the sphere of "laughing stock." A poster child for "losers and failures," and we the proud fans of this team for decades will not stand for feeling this way ANY LONGER!

I don't live in Washington DC any more. Sadly I had to move south. I decided to do a little experiment today and went to some local sports bars in this city to see if anyone would play the Redskins games among the others. I tested 6 different venues and found that only one showed our game. While the other 5 bars had more than 20 screens, they refused to show the Redskins game because as one manager put it, "if I wanted to show pigs in sh-- I would have opened this bar on a farm." The Redskins organization has lost every ounce of respect that it had cultivated among NFL fans nationwide over the past 70 years. Danny, get a clue man, how can you wake up every morning, look at yourself in the mirror and know for every year you score a losing record, you are spitting in the face of your fans who have flushed their hard earned dollars down the toilet into your bank account? How?

This organization has broken its fans hearts once more by blowing a 17-2 lead coming into the second half. Despite the statistics being in our favor coming into the start of this game, we have learned that statistics don't mean anything when it comes to our Redskins. Because as far as an actual win is concerned, it's just another wild card toss up, and this SECOND LOSS to ANOTHER WINLESS TEAM Danny boy Snyder is another slap in your face and a wake up call that you are doing a crappy job on this venture.

We can and WILL TAKE BACK OUR TEAM!!

EMAIL ME

Too Close With Tampa

Our victory over Tampa Bay was needed, though the feat of doing so remained completely unimpressive. You voted last week and overwhelmingly indicated that ownership is the issue. I took this information and ran with it to analyze. This deduction is mostly correct, but conclusively we can say that general managerialship by ownership is one of the worst decisions Snyder has ever made.

In a season where we needed offensive linemen, Snyder and Cerrato (our illustrious GMs) passed class A candidates up for 3 draft rounds in a row despite the fact we wheeled and dealed to get 10 draft picks for '09-'10. Further to this point, our self-admiring GMs overlooked any possible free agency candidates and instead opted for mediocre other players and paid Haynesworth, Portis and Hall way too much for what they could bring to the team.

We gave the ball over 4 times today, all of which were OL and QB related. While Tampa's Talib may be a good player, he was not so good as to be gifted 3 interceptions in one game. This is offensive weakness not great play defense. Snyder has to let go of the GM duties and replace Vinny Cerrato in that position. They are clearly ineffective and not adept to handling the tasks required with this vital front office responsibility.

We have the lowest T.O.P (time of possession) in the NFL, because we don't give any of our QB's enough time to move the ball effectively. Portis is steadily declining in his productivity year over year, but this too can be partly attributed to poor OL play, a consequence of mediocre General Manager decisions and underskilled players in these core positions.

Is Zorn ready to be a head coach? Who knows, we have no evidence one way or the other, but we can say without questions that he has no control over which players he coaches, this is squarely a decision made by Snyder and Cerrato. They need to let go! In order for us to get our team back, we need to speak up and make known our desire for Snyder and Cerrato to step up, admit they cannot handle the GM task and find someone who will or we the fans will find some way to change it (see links under related sites to the left). They've tried for 10 years with poor results, it's time to change.

EMAIL ME

Oh Woe To The Redskins

Welcome Redskins fans to the only exclusively Washington Redskins fan website on the internet. Please feel free to be open and candid in your comments regarding the state of our dismally sorry team.

Redskins fans, let this site serve as your voice. With enough support from you here, today, we can make ourselves be heard to the players, coaches and ownership. They will have to listen to us once again.

How can we fans turn this team around? I say we have more power than we think to restore our dynasty. Obviously star players and billions of dollars, new coaches and odd player incentives implemented by ownership is NOT the answer. We must find our own way to change the direction of our team. I would go so far as to say, return all your season tickets, stop buying redskins gear and stop asking our players for autographs until they decide to play the game as we expect them to.

Once upon a time, our Redskins felt like a team, played like a team and loved it's fans like we were actually on the field playing on the team. For a fan who has been loyal for the past 20 years, I am simply getting tired of saying, "maybe next year." The time to make a change to our team is now. The 12th men and women raised the team to its once glorious heights before, and so can the 12th man and woman reclaim their team for their city once again. The capital of the most powerful country on earth cannot be represented by a chronically sorry team.

Long gone are the years of dominance by our team in the league and pride in our "braves". Ever since ownership changed hands, for whom blame falls squarely on Jack Cooke Sr.'s shoulders for not automatically willing the team to his son, we have not seen any glimmers of our past glory.

Nobody on our team today cares about winning they only care about the paychecks that hit their accounts on Monday morning. How can players honestly celebrate with the ferver they do on one good play they make when we are down 13 to 0? Your comments and thoughts are welcome.

I encourage you to register with us in order to receive all the latest Redskin Fan news and be able to freely share your comments with ownership, coaches and players. The more of us speaking up, the more likely they are to listen to what we have to say.
